I have been working on, in and around cars since I was old enough to hold a spanner and in that time I have worked with a lot of mainstream and professional products. From what I have learned, is that none of the Products last longer than 3 weeks let alone 6 months. Every Car show I have attended or taken part in, has the owner basically busting a gut to get his/her car to shine like it did at the last show.
All of my commments and investigations have come from buying, applying and finding myself at square one with my paintowrk. All of the "Off the shelf" Products you get at major retail outlets or let alone used by the general Detailing Crews out there have one or more of the components mentioned below. Just remember "Solvent" Based products out there weaken your paint which in turn allow for all the airborn dust, fallout and acid rain to weaken your paintwork further.
So remember to ask your "Detailer" what products he uses and Compare!
Wax
Like most of you would not know, is that wax has a REAL DURABILITY PROBLEM. Have you ever noticed that after you visited the detailer and he has applied the BIG NAME product that, not more than a week later a lot of airborne dust and fallout, resides once again on your fabulously waxed paintwork?
Go ahead feel how rough your paintwork feels after a week or 2.
Here are the reasons why-
1. Wax does not stick to the paint surface of the car.
2. Wax is water soluble actually attracts water and dust! Just ike a Fly to a Venus Fly Trap, dirt and crap are attracted to your bright new wax!
3. When you see all those lovely swirl marks and scratches in your paintwork, its because all the fine dust and airborn junk has deposited itself in the wax on your car then it becomes logded in the same buffing pads they use to "BUFF" your car!
4. As most waxes do, they actually started melting or dissipating once enough heat is introduced and will lower the gloss of your paintwork. It also rubs off on your clothes and hands.
5. It turns that, once brilliant shine into a hazy, blotched mess within a week if not days...
6. All Waxes carry SOLVENTS to make the wax flow better, but at the same time making your paint weak! Solvent is used to thin out paint!
Hmmm Still want wax on that 20K plus car you just bought?????
Non-Stick Fry Pan Stuff / PTFE
PTFE is the chemical name of group of products that are put on things like Baking Dishes and Frying Pans and the like.
That "NON STICK STUFF" - does nothing to enhance the properties of a car wax". Know This, that the car care products containing PTFE only have, less than 10% of PTFE in them.
Also Non-Stick Stuff/PTFE is nonsticky in all directions, it needs to be baked at high heat (after priming the surface) to stick to METAL not Paint.
So if nothing sticks to it, How does it stay on your car?
So who really wants a product or pay for something that doesn't stay on your cars Paint?
Silicon
Silicon is out dated, and well just bad. The gloss goes away once you start washing your car. It also ends up everywhere else bar your paintwork!
Acrylic
On the acrylic side of things, it has a lot to answer for especially in the pricing segment. The protection and shine barely last long enough for you to smile. Especially, what you just forked out for. This side of paint protection has yet to be proven that it sticks and protects.
Glaze
It is difficult to properly evaluate glazes unless you know what's in them, thats why there are so many different "Glaze" products on the market and none of them show or explain their real composition. They are mostly composed of wax and silicon with a resin base. The majority of manufacturers that produce these glaze products do not disclose what is in them. A top shelf glaze has a melting temperature of 140°C and is abrasive.
Glare Infinity Plus handles up to 400°C and Glare Infinity Plus is not abrasive..
PPS
PPS compounds need to be heated to a certain temperature to achieve proper adhesion. This essentially means that - if the correct temperature is not achieved in a uniform and even application process, this coating will not stick! So in reality, no one will just have a heating booth to properly apply this product all over!
Conclusion
A lot of these so called Top Shelf products can and will do the job but at what repetitive cost to you? All of those products have to be re-applied in around 3 weeks, If not earlier!
Most of all, these products carry abrasives to cut and solvents to make the wax flow better.
Solvents weaken paint!!!!!
So the next time you walk through the shopping center car park and see that car with paintwork that's faded, patchy and flakey, thats because they've over polished their car with solvent based products in the beginning. Hence taking away the top coat of clear and paint that protects the lower layers!
Or they just havent taken care of their car!
Either way all of that could've been avoided and still can be!
All paint work that has Acid Burn, Oxidised Paint (Faded paint), Scratches, can be reinvigorated with our products at Endless Shine..
